Senator Clodfelter opened Hybrid's North Carolina plant with a ceremonial driving of North America's first production lithium-powered Smart Car. NBC, CBS and ABC broadcast the event to over a million viewers as audience of local and state dignitaries inspected parade of over 12 production model lithium vehicles.
